As someone who like Futurama and The Simpsons, I found this picture merging both quite funny.

Recently, I came across astonishing and beautiful photos of sculptures from some Flickr contacts:
1. waterincatania, 2. Italian Garden, Hyde Park, 3. Untitled
They also remind me an episode of Doctor Who (more info here, here or here) where statues had a pivotal role.
Interestingly, following the airing of “Blink”, someone has created a group on Flickr called: Don’t blink.
… in the US.
“The popular BitTorrent client, Azureus has just struck a deal with the BBC to offer TV shows on its recently launched content store/website, Zudeo.”
The newest Digital TV tuner for mac form Elgato looks very nice.
I like the twin tuner, twin antenna flexibility that allows you to record 1 channel while watching another or to watch one channel using both tuner to increase the digital quality. That suits me perfectly as in my area the DTT signal is quite unstable (sometimes good, sometimes bad, depends on the channel, the weather,…). It is also very small, so you can travel with it packed with your laptop.

Tomorrow starts the new BBC 3 sci-fi series Torchwood.
It’s a spin-off of Doctor Who centered around the character “Captain Jack” from the first new Doctor Who series.
If I understand the algorithm correctly the next Doctor Who spin-offs will be:
Dowchroot, Thoodcrow, Drootchow
If they are going the way of Star-Trek, SG, I would like also to see more cross-over between series. That would be cool.
Even more cool, a cross-over between all BBC series:
Ok, I’ll stop here (can I just suggest the cybermen to pay a visit to that guy in Extras :-D)
Humm,
I’m not into conspiracy theories, but this is going to argue in favor of people who think Mankind never landed on the moon, and everything that happened in 1969 was staged and fake (remember the film Capricorn One?)
They don’t want us to analyze the missing tape, they must have something to hide
Apollo 11 TV Tapes Go Missing: “Richard W.M. Jones writes ‘On July 21st 1969, Honeysuckle Creek observatory brought us the first TV pictures of men on the moon. The original signals were recorded on high quality slow-scan TV (SSTV) tapes. What was released to the TV networks was reduced to lower quality commercial TV standards. Unfortunately John Sarkissian of Parkes Observatory Australia reports that 698 of the 700 boxes of original tapes have gone missing [warning: large PDF] from the U.S. National Archives. Even more worryingly, the last place on earth which can actually read these tapes is scheduled to close in October this year. The PDF contains interesting comparisons which show that if all you’ve seen are the TV pictures from the landing, you really haven’t seen the first moon walk in its full glory.’

And for the fun, below is a comment from Slashdot :
“Holy crap, They were labeled “Moonwalk” so I thought they were the michael jackson video or something and I taped the world cup games over them. My bad guys. Can’t you set up the studio in the desert and tape them again?”
This is a pretty amazing advert. We’ve seen similar techniques in other ads like for Carphone Warehouse’s Talk-Talk, but this one is far more impressive. This is creativity made Ad.
One of my favourite series is returning. At last.
I hope there will be a UK airing soon too.
Futurama Returns: “GrumpySimon writes ‘Good news everyone! Straight from a one-eyed alien’s mouth - 13 new episodes of Futurama have been confirmed by Katey Sagal on Craig Ferguson’s Late Late Show. All the original actors have signed up too.’

This weekend, I’ve watched the film “Lost In Translation” for the second time.
I loved this film. It’s very atmospheric and subtle.
It reminded me another great film Sofia Coppola directed before: “The Virgin Suicides”
With that in mind, I couldn’t help but be intrigued by her last work “Marie Antoinette” which has coincidentally just been released (at least in France).
I’m not known for being a fan of “Period” drama,
but after having recently seen Barry Lyndon, and Doctor Who episode “The Girl In the Fireplace” I’ve gradually become interested in this genre again.
As a consequence of browsing Imdb on the above subjects, I’ve just discovered that Sophia Myles who plays Madame De Pompadour in “The Girl In The Fireplace” also stars in a recent period romance “Tristan & Isolde”.
She’s charming and acts well in Doctor Who and I’ve read that she did a brief but strong appearance in the film Underworld: this a film I wanted to see for the style and atmosphere - gothic, vampire, werewolves, but didn’t because I was afraid to waste my money on an unoriginal, insubstantial action film. I’ve been wondering If I didn’t miss a good film there.
While on the subject of werewolves, the trailer I’ve seen of Marie-Antoinette shows a costumed ball with accelerated motion.
I’ve seen such scene in the music video of the german industrial-rock band Rammstein, “Du riechst so gut” in which an aristocratic lady is being stalked by a werewolf.
I’ve read that music (leaning toward rock) is a “character” of the film Marie-Antoinette (as in all Sofia Coppola’s films so far, for my greatest delight).
I need to find out when and where I can go and watch Marie-Antoinette in London

Do you remember “Wild Palms” a mini-series by Oliver Stone?
I loved it. I thought about it when I saw this photo on Flickr.
IIRC, it’s the same corvette (and color) as featured in the film.
